It is called, ‘The Adventures of an eco Builder’ with the subtitle, ‘Designing and Building a Low Energy Home’ and is now available here
Tony’s House was designed with very low energy demand in mind. The record delivered in this text will surprise many builders and designers and hopefully prompt the regulators to improve their systems. Construction practices need to change radically throughout the industry in order for the country, as whole, to meet its energy use reduction targets. This includes design, regulation, inspection, delivery and the missing element that is badly needed, namely post-construction checking and reporting.
Tony’s House has no formal heating system and was thought through “outside the box” in many aspects. Attention to detail, especially in the areas of air tightness and insulation, will hopefully now be able to be applied much more widely.
